Ultrasound

It looks like we have a healthy baby on the way - such a blessing and relief! Steve and I were very excited to watch *it* move around on the screen. At one point there was a sudden arm movement, and Steve said it looked like a karate chop. Feels like kitten karate to me, but funny all the same.

The baby weighs about 12 ounces, is in the 45th percentile for size (read: average), heartbeat is 136, and the doctor checked out all different angles and areas and said she didn't see any anomalies. We saw the stomach with fluid in it, so that means the baby can swallow properly.

The ultrasound machine is able to do a 3-D image, which is more helpful in pregnancies that are further along, but at 20 weeks the images just look like clouds. Dr. Averill took a couple pictures in that mode, but all she could say was that it looked like a puppy dog. I can only imagine the dreams I'll have...

Can we see pictures, please? Even if some do look like clouds or marshmallow babies...
