My week

I had my first cavity filled at the end of March, then a couple weeks later I was experiencing some pain from several of my teeth (but not abscess-level, thankfully).  When I went in I bit on a "Tooth Sleuth" to find the culprit, and discovered it was actually "transfer pain" from the cavity. So Dr. Ben scheduled me for a crown.  Joy.

First thing Monday morning after our wonderful vacation I'm sitting in the dentist's chair with my jaw pried open (it's a molar), *smelling* my tooth being ground down (like burning hair), trying not to wince with my sensitivity to even room temp water, and attempting to visualize myself on Sapphire Beach looking at St. John -- a technique I learned from our childbirth prep classes.  The country station was on the radio and I think I would cried if "Some Beach" had come on.

I sat in that waiting room
It seemed like all afternoon
The nurse finally said doc's ready for you
You're not gonna feel a thing, we'll give you some novicane
That tooth will be fine in a minute or two
But he stuck that needle down deep in my gum
And he started drillin' before I was numb

Some beach
Somewhere
There's a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair
Palm trees are growin' and a warm breezes a blowing
I picture myself right there
On some beach, somewhere

That was Monday.  I'm still a little sore on that side of my mouth, but I'm okay.

On Tuesday I was pulling weeds and playing fetch with Riley, chuckling at the memory of Dad's face when I used to blow dandelion seeds.  (Now that I have my own yard I get why.)  If you know my dog, you know she fetches with gusto and typically runs into my legs and it's not a big deal.  But this time I was kneeling down, pulling spring onions when her head collided with my eyebrow.  She's fine.  My eye keeps getting worse fancier each day.  I have not let my black eye pride keep me from running errands, but I do wonder what people think.

One really cool thing about my week is my brother had a layover in DC so I got to have dinner with him overlooking Reagan airport.  Never mind the swollen eye or horrible directions from Phoebe (I wound up in Maryland), watching planes take off and land with a pilot who can explain things was really fun.  And being able to just enjoy Tom and not worry about our kids.

Sorry to hear about your tooth and your eye. I hope they both look/feel better soon. Glad you got to have a nice dinner with Tom. Phoebe failed you again? Pretty sure she messed up when I was in town too. ;)
