I love pancakes. When I was a kid, every Saturday my mom made pancakes. Buckwheat, Bisquick, oatmeal, all kinds, but always Saturday. (Sunday was scrambled eggs and some sort of pastry.)
The local Kiwanis Club has a Pancake Day fundraiser every fall and spring, and thousands of people come to have all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes and sausage all day long. The Kiwanis guys man the griddles and Key Club volunteers bus the tables and hand out juice. When we lived in PA and DE I used to come home just for this.
In recent years the logistics of navigating this potentially crowded event with a little one kept us away, but yesterday we tried it. We came during a lull, so there was a short line, plenty of spots to sit, and Olivia actually sat and ate a pancake.
