Babymooniversary

Steve and I spent last weekend in DC to celebrate our anniversary, upcoming baby, and Mother's Day.  Last time we spent a weekend in DC I was 7 months pregnant and developed round ligament pain in the midst of all the walking.  I figured it would be more fun to do a trip earlier on in this pregnancy.  Saturday we started with brunch (baked eggs) at Blue Duck Tavern and then walked up to see the gardens of Dumbarton Oaks.  It was a gorgeous day!

Thankfully I'm into 2nd trimester and don't need a nap every afternoon, but both of us crashed for a few minutes in the room before dinner.  Then we walked to District ChopHouse (pork chops stuffed with fontina & sage, plus a sample of Bourbon Stout in honor of the Kentucky Derby which ran during our salad course).  I know this is lame, but after dinner we caught up on our TV shows via web stream.

Sunday was Mother's Day so we brunched at Old Ebbitt Grill (Chesapeake Eggs Benedict, similar to classic EB with an added crab cake on each) and walked around the national mall.  My favorite part of the Smithsonian is the mineral exhibit at the Natural History Museum.

My parents graciously watched Olivia, and she had such a great time she didn't want to come home.

I sense a food craving/enjoyment thread in your last two entries...Eggs and more eggs. :)
