Capturing a moment

I thought it would be fun to have Bowen photographed as a newborn.  You know... sleeping, scrunchy-faced, buck naked except for a silly knit hat.  Google found a photographer nearby who specializes in newborns, Capture a Moment Photography, and she had an opening a week after Bowen's delivery date.  Melody is so great with little ones.  She cranks up the heat in the studio, plus she has a space heater nearby, so the baby slept through most of the 3-hour session.

"Why three hours?" I thought.  But Melody has done this before and I haven't, and she did use up a whole morning with scene changes, patiently adjusting his arms and legs and letting him settle, propping up his arm a little more, smoothing out his scowl, adjusting the lighting, feeding the baby, changing diapers, cleaning up when we didn't use a diaper...  So while Steve, Olivia, Grandma and Poppy were at school doing the Halloween parade, Bowen and I spent a quiet morning with Melody.  I am thrilled with the results.  Here are some (it's hard to choose)...

Zack would NEVER have slept for photos like that darn it. But we sure did get some good animated ones!
